  Biography
 
July,
1933
Born, Kyoto, Japan, eldest son of 44th generation Ikenobo Headmaster, Sen'i Ikenobo.  
  May, 1945 Upon the death of his father, Sen'i Ikenobo, successds to the position of 45th Ikenobo Headmaster.  
  Aug., 1953 Assumes the position of Head Priest, Rokkakudo temple, Kyoto Japan.  
  Mar., 1956 Graduation from the Department of Literature, Doshisha University, Kyoto Japan.  
    1962 Makes first of many visits to Europe, the Americas and Southeast Asia.  
  Jan., 1966 Elected Vice President, Japan Ikebana Art Association, continuing to the present.  
    1971 Awarded Dark-blue Ribbon Medal by the office of the Japanese Prime Minister.  
    1971,1981 Awarded Ordem Academica do Sao Francisco by the Coverment of Brazil.  
    1973 Special Representative of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs visiting Europe.  
    1976 Assumed position as Chairman, Board of Directores, Ikenobo society of Floral art.  
  Apr., 1977 Creates new style of Ikebana, "Shoka Shimputai"  
  Jun., 1984 Composed ikebana stage sets for the International Garden Festival, Liverpool, England  
  Oct., 1991 Performed a demontration of Ikenobo Ikebana at the Ikebana International Sixth World Convention in Tokyo.  
  May, 1994 Demonstration at the Ikebana international First Midlle Eastern Regional Symposium, Amman, Jordan.  
  Dec., 1994 Awarded Ordem National do Cruzeiro do Sul in the rank of Commander by the government of Brazil.  
  Sept., 1995 Performed a demonstration of Ikenobo Ikebana at events celebrating the 50th Anniversary of UNESCO, Paris, France.  
  Feb., 1996 Demonstration at the I.I. Fifth Asian Regional Conference, New Delhi, India.  
  Feb., 1997 Demonstration in Damascus, Syria, at the invitation of the Japanese Embassy.  
  Feb., 1998 Performed a demonstration of Ikenobo Ikebana at the Ikebana International Sixth Asian Regional Conference, Manila, Philippines.  
  Apr., 1999 Creates new style of ikebana "Rikka Shimputai".  
  Sept., 2000 Demonstrated in Sao Paulo, Brazil, making the 40th Anniversary of the founding of the Ikenobo Brazil Chapter.  
  Mar., 2001 Demonstrated at the Eighth World Convention of Ikebana International, Yokohama, Japan.  
  Sept., 2003 Demonstrated as part of cultural events celebrating the 300th Anniversary of founding of St. Petersburg, Russia.  
 
 

Beginning in 1962 and continuing to the present, Sen'ei Ikenobo has made numerous visits to Asia, Europe, and Americas to perform demonstrations of Ikenobo ikebana.
